Yeah so I'm back to work. Which means I'm back to blogging more frequently. When GA went Blackroc, I feared the mix wasn't going to work. Then gave it a full listen and figured I could drop some neo soul on you fools. Lee Fields & The Expressions, "Ladies" It was featured as a closing tune on Entourage this past season. GA didnt mention this in his little Flurries entry, but he hit me back with a surprisingly Soulful Yo La Tengo track, "Periodically Double Or Triple" One of the reasons I love this third mix is its very heavy on tracks from 2009. If someone had told me we'd go from Lee Fields to YLT, I wouldve said yeah right. I was waiting for a chance to drop "Walkabout" It has this Motown sound. Bright and jangly rhythms with a good rhythm, something somewhere between Frankie Valli and The Beach Boys. And while I don't share GA's hatred for Animal Collective, I don't love them. I also don't like Deerhunter all that much either, but as far as this side project goes, I want to hear more of it. And then the reason I've been stumped is: How Do You Follow St. Vincent?

Mix No. 3 nearing completion
AH, Grand Alto has sold me up the river... Probably because I wasn't at his record release party.

Flurries.
Me and Gered had a flurry of activity this past month on the mixtape, which should be done by Dec. 21, 2012. By then it should be the soundtrack for the apocalypse or whatever is supposed to happen. After the Blakroc track, Gered came back with some soulful ass shit. I was about to get back at him with some Egyptian jazz but figured to keep it real with some St. Vincent, whose album blew my damn mind this year. Just picture me at my cubicle at work, hood up cause its freezing in the office, headphones on just rocking out. I totally fell for the Actor release and especially this song, Marrow, whose riff could kick Mastodon's ass. I love it. Gered then came back with Atlas Sound, who was another indie darling this year. I mean, everybody just LOVES this band. Good tune, better than Animal Collective, who I may hate more than John "Cougar" Mellencamp.

Apologies
So the Holidays stretched a bit. WM is a corporate lawyer now, Caprica premiered, real jobs get in the way, we're all terribly busy, really. But fear not reader(s). We're still working on the mixes.
While you wait, Here is my one sentence review of the iPad!
I'll bet Angry Birds would be BADASS on that thing.
